Dear Reader,
I will give you a brief description of the origin of inversion therapy.
Benefits
Around 3000 years BC Inversion had been used as source to make the body steady.
It had also been beneficial for stimulating of the blood circulation, which makes light, even relaxing, cardiovascular function.
Thus, it activates the brain, escalates the proper function of the glandular system, relieves pressure on the blood vessels and internal organs.
Additionally, improves flexibility of the joints and spine retains, thus, the hydration vertebrae disks become easily hydrated.
What’s more, the individual obtains and preserves a good straight posture, starting feel happier and healthier.
Historical Development of Inversion Therapy
First, Hippocrates, known as the Father of Medicine, developed the practice of inversion therapy by using specific equipment for that time, 400 BC. He was using anti-gravitational force to cure spinal problems and pain in joint.
Than, regardless of the fact that it’s been a centuries-old therapy, the intention of inversion therapy was not broadly distinguished in the United States or elsewhere, until Dr. Robert Martin (osteopath, chiropractor and medical doctor) represented the “Gravity Guidance System” in the 1960’s.
Consequently, this revolutionary concept invoked the effects of gravity on the human body, which brought the simple resolution of inversion therapy, and the resulting benefits that it has.
Nowadays
Until early 80’s inversion therapy gained a huge popularity and was used regularly, since the blackmailed publications of the damages of inversion had stopped it. It was Dr. Goldman whose 1983 publication had a study that all but eliminated inversion as a way to combat the negative effects of gravity.
However, in 1985 Dr. Goldman published a second study, in which he rejected what had been previously stated. In the second study he found that there was no risk of strokes, cardiovascular accidents or serious injuries by using inversion.
In the beginning of 90s inversion therapy became popular again and has continued to grow since then.
With all the benefits the inversion therapy is now a vital tool for large number of health-care providers, for treatment of multiple spinal health issues.
Summary
From what I was able to cover could be seen that it has been historically proven that the inversion is the ideal source for “whole body wellness”.
And as statistics show, the inversion therapy is an effective form of natural therapy, with varied benefits for all ages and fitness levels.
Moreover, I am convinced that it could be favorable not just for fitness lovers, but also for those who want to be healthy and live a long and fulfilling life.
