Dear Reader!
Do you know the principles of your digestion?
Which organs are involved in your digestive system?
How your digestion tract works?
How inversion therapy improves the functioning of your digestive system?
Your digestive system processes the food you eat into carbohydrates, fats and proteins. They are then absorbed into your blood, which gives energy to your body, with which it grows and recovers. Finally, residual materials are excreted from your body as feces. [1]
Inversion therapy has a direct impact on your digestive system. It stimulates the removal of debris from your intestinal tract, moving it to the large intestine using the gravitation instead of working against it. [2]
Below you can see some illustrations for better visualization:

Additionally, I added a video animation by Peekadoo Kidz, which is done for kids, which will bring you a clear understanding of how your digestive system works: https://youtu.be/ZBZWgrfZFbU[4]
What we should do and we should not do to make our digestion system working properly and more efficiently
What not do
- Eat the inappropriate foods, such as fast food or processed foods – not digesting properly and stays in your digesting system, which causes headaches and stiffness.[5]
- Eating too fast – complicates the work of the intestinal tract, which causes bloating, dizziness and makes you extremely nervous.[6]
- Go to bed immediately after eating – it complicates the digestive process, as stomach acids are not fully concentrated in the processing of the food you have eaten.[7]
- Exercise immediately after eating – the blood from your digestive tract is diverted and obstructs proper digestion.[8]
- Smoking – it can be a factor for development of heartburn and gastroesophageal reflux disease, weakening of the lower esophageal sphincter, which protects the stomach contents – such as acids that break down food.[9]
- Drinking a lot of alcohol – alcohol feeds the bad bacteria in the gut. This leads to all kinds of negative symptoms as your bowels become lazy; thus, this allows toxins to enter your bloodstream and spread to all parts of your body.[10]
What to do
- Drink plenty of fluids – it protects you from dehydration, which is a leading cause of constipation. Add warm fluids, in the morning before breakfast, which will help to stimulate your bowel movements.[6]
- Eat slowly and mindfully – If you don’t chew properly, you add stress to your digestive system, which needs to work a little harder to break it down.[8]
- Get more movement – as a result you will have a smoother digestion, which stimulates intestinal contractions and adds pressure to the colon. It is recommended to take a half hour walk after a meal.[5]
- Exercise regularly – this stimulates muscle contractions in your colon, which speeds up the movement of food you have taken. But remember the rule, 3 to 4 hours after eating and eating at least 30 minutes after exercise.[6]
- Reduce stress – your gut and your brain are closely linked, so excessive stress can lead to abnormalities in your digestive system. Stress causes the release of adrenaline in your body, which accelerates the transit of food through your digestive track and can cause you and can lead to unwanted stomach upsets.[5]
- Use Inversion therapy – by the time they are inverted, the old fecal matter that has entered the intestinal tract will be removed, and your body will be free from toxins. Consequently, your digestive system will start working more efficiently, you will get less bloating, if none, spasms in your intestinal tract will be eliminated, and you will be having a better digestion. Inversion Therapy for Making our Digestive System Working a Lot Better
In historical retrospect, for centuries inversion therapy has been essential for treatment of indigestion.
When your are inverted, your digestive system is upside down, which aids for cleaning of the feces throughout the walls of your intestine, sustaining your peristalsis and removing all fecal matter.
This turns out to be the most natural way to help your body excrete toxins without need of any forced cleansing or diet. [12]
So, let me show you how this works on inversion table:
1. Warm up [link to demonstrations: https://youtu.be/Mzu19q4HMsY]
- We are starting with 10x swings
- Then release and relax, taking 3 full and even breathes
2. Exercises [link to demonstration: https://youtu.be/n_KT4kkCjB8]:
1. With your hands spread begin moving freely to the right and to the left, for about a minute
Results:
- Opening the area of your digestive organs and massaging them
2. Returning on the inversion table we will move to the full inversion.
- Now grabbing the frame or handles, with elbows facings backwards.
- We lift the body by pulling it as high as possible, making sure that shoulders are far from our ears.
- Since here, we keep here for at least 5 full and even breaths
- Relax your body with arms outstretched and palms on the floor, for 5 full and even breaths
Results:
- It gives elasticity to your spine;[13]
- tones your abdominal organs;[13]
3. Breathing techniques [link to demonstration: https://youtu.be/71sGohxEvig]:
- Now going back with our backs on the inversion bench we will finish with few full breathings
- We ease off , and completely turned upside down. Placing our palms on the floor, facing backwards. In this position we take 5 to 10 full and even breaths.
Results:
Improves the work of the excretory system.[13]
3. After that, we stretching our hands above our heads and do “Bhastrika”, aka “fanning the fire”.
Sequences: 3x series with 5 to 10 breaths.
How to perform it:[14]
- Take a deep breath, inhaling through the nose without any tension, filling your abdomen, chest, collarbones and head.
- Exhale forcefully through the nose, in reverse order.
4. We then continue with “Kapalabhati” breath, aka “breath of fire”, 3 circles of 10 breaths.
Results from Bhastrika and Kapalabhati:
- Relaxes your diaphragm;[13]
- Tones and strengthened your stomach region; [14]
5. When finished with Kapalabhati, we take 3x full breaths to settle the breathing.
6. Since you’ve done this, continue with 5 rounds of Alternate Nostril Breathing to calm your nervous system.
7. Finally, relax with your arms outstretched around your head, and take few breaths
Overall Results from physical and breathing exercises:
Going through these inverted physical and breathing exercises, your digestion will improve. Consequently, all toxins stored over time in your intestines will gradually remove. As a result of that your blood is going to be clean, your heart, lungs and liver will work easily and your brain will get fresh and your thoughts clear. [15]
The complete sequence of exercises you can find in my youtube channel on the following link: https://youtu.be/X1KuwF2nGzQ
Notes:
• Try to do all exercises at once, on the given order. Thus, you will gain the most of them. Nevertheless, feel free to improvise if you really want to.
• You can do these exercises any time but the most preferable time is in the morning, before you have taken any food.

- Consult with your doctor or physical practitioner if you have glaucoma and other health issues before starting inversions;
- For women in their pregnancy it is recommended to avoid inverting;
- Women, which are in their menstruation period, must avoid being upside down;
- Those of you who recently had injuries or surgery, this is strongly recommended to start with invasion therapy, only after your full recovery;
